Your Move is the FICS interface that I wanted, but couldnt find on the iPad. The design is clean and simple, and the controls are as non-intrusive as possible. The pieces are original illustrations created exclusively for Your Move based on old chess books.
The Free Internet Chess Server is one of the oldest and biggest chess servers online. At any given time there are hundreds of games going on, people from all over the world, playing chess.
With Your Move you can connect as a guest or with your FICS account to track your game history and rating. A FICS account is optional and is not necessary to play, but will allow the server to keep track of your wins and losses and assign you a rating. After each game Your Move will post your rating to the global leaderboard, so you can see how you rate against the world.
With Your Move you can seek a game using your preferred settings or browse existing seeks to find a game. You can browse and challenge specific players to create private games.
If you don’t feel like playing, you can observe games in progress using Your Move. Tap any game you want to watch from the list of games being played, and you will start observing it and receiving updates. Switch between games you are observing by swiping the board to the left or right. You can unlock the board and allow the display to scroll to the last updated game.
Keep track of the games you are playing and watching in the "My Games" tab. During a game you can click on any move in the "History" panel to view that move. You can also chat with other chess players in the FICS chat room.
Additionally, Your Move lets you publish your games online so they can be saved and shared with your friends.
NOTE: Your Move does NOT have integrated AI. You CANNOT play against a computer, and you CANNOT play locally against another person. Your Move is strictly an FICS client.
